Sensex marginally falls 17 pts

Mumbai (Thestates.news)| The BSE Sensex on Tuesday declined 17 points to 79,458.14 in the opening session on profit booking by local operators.  The National Stock Exchange (NSE) slipped 19.90 points to 24,122.05. Registering an all-time high on Monday, the equity market was seen as weak in early trade as selling was witnessed in  commodities, FMCG, and consumer durable stocks.
The BSE Sensex registered intraday highs at 79,855.87 and lows at 79,403.77.

The NSE registered days high and low at 24,236.35 and 24,116 pts, respectively. In 30 scrips, 10 advanced while 20 declined. The midcap eased by 0.06 pc, while mall cap rose by 0.32 pc.
The losers were Tata Motors by 1.30 p.c. to Rs 988.65, Kotak Bank by 1.26 p.c. to Rs 1786.05, Bajaj Finance by 1.17 p.c. to Rs 7190, and ICICI Bank by 0.78 p.c. to Rs 1202.70. The gainers were Powergrid by 1.05 pc to Rs 333, Infosys by 0.81 pc to Rs 1602.65, and TCS by 0.74 pc to Rs 4002.70. (UNI)
