New Delhi, (thestates.news) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday extended warm greetings to all countrymen on the occasion of Rath Yatra and sought blessings of Lord Jagannath for everyone.
“I extend my warm greetings on the auspicious occasion of Rath Yatra. May Maha Prabhu Jagannath blesses everyone with good health, joy and prosperity, Jai Jagannath”, he twitted.
Expressing gratitude to the Supreme Court for giving conditional approval to Puri Rath Yatra on Monday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that this was a special day for the devotees of Lord Jagannath, especially the Odiya brothers and sisters he twitted on June 22.
The Apex Court on June 22 lifted its June 18 ban on organising the Puri Jagannath Rath Yatra after ensuring a complete restriction of public attendance for the festival to avoid the spread of the novel coronavirus.
While hearing a special petition on this issue, a three-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice of India SA Bobde on Monday said in its order that each chariot would be pulled by not more than 500 people, including officials and police, and there has to be an interval of one hour between pulling of the chariots.
Following the Supreme Court order, the Odisha Government on Monday has imposed a 41-hour curfew in the temple town and conducted Covid-19 tests of 700 temple priests who would pull the three chariots.uni
