RAIPUR (thestates.news) A Sub Inspector of Gudhiyari Police on Tuesday evening surpassed all known limits of cruelty and brutality against animals after he severely thrashed a mute animal, a stray dog, with a wooden stick. So much brutally the dog was beaten that he sustained severe head trauma and now has slipped into coma.
Dr. Chandrakar along with the volunteers of People for Animal (PFA) are attending the hapless canine, who is fighting for his survival, which is very bleak. The accused Sub Inspector, according to eye-witnessed is one Naveen Dewangan, a resident of Quarter-279, Janta Colony, GudhiyariYet, no one larger in the rank and file of Raipur Police were so human or compassionate to rush the profusely bleeding dog to nearby veterinary doctor or hospital.
Had the PFA volunteers failed to reach the scene of crime, Janta Colony in Gudhiyari, the poor mute would have succumbed. This inhuman crime took place at 7 pm on Tuesday evening, when the reckless and barbaric cop without any reason attacked the dog relentlessly unless it lost it senses.
The incident was witnessed by several bystanders in the colony, who then reported to PFA volunteers.Yet what is further worse is the reluctance of the top cops to lend a patient hearing to PFA volunteers repeated attempt to brief them about the incident and lodge an offence against the errant cop under relevant Sections of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.The incident happened at times, when most of these stray dogs are already facing the worst crisis of their lives due to the existing lockdown, which has left them hungry and thirsty. This is also mockery on the so-called sensitive face of Raipur Police.
The incident has caused deep pain to animal lovers across the state as they are now demanding stern action against the guilty cop. The incident also coincides with the time when most of the people including volunteers and animal lovers are out on the streets to feed and water these most loyal and trusted friend of human beings in Raipur Attachments area.
