Polling for the Second Phase to be Held on February 20 in 43 Development Blocks Across the State

Raipur (thestates.news) | The three-tier Panchayat General Elections 2025 are being conducted in three phases. Chhattisgarh State Election Commission had announced the dates for the Urban Body and Three-Tier Panchayat General Elections on January 20. State Election Commissioner Shri Ajay Singh has confirmed that all the necessary preparations for the elections have been completed in advance.
As per the schedule issued by the State Election Commission, the notification for the three-tier Panchayat elections was published on January 27, marking the commencement of the nomination process. The last date for submitting nomination papers was set as February 3, 2025, at 3 PM. Candidates were allowed to withdraw their nominations until February 6, 2025, at 3 PM, and the final list of contesting candidates, along with the allocation of election symbols, was also finalized on the same day.
Officials of the State Election Commission have informed that the counting of votes will be conducted at polling stations on the day of polling itself. Tabulation and announcement of results for Panch, Sarpanch, and Janpad Panchayat elections at the block level were completed for the first phase on January 19. The results for the second phase will be declared on February 22, while those for the third phase will be announced on February 25 at 9 AM. Similarly, the results for Jila Panchayat members will be declared at the district headquarters on February 20 for the first phase, on February 23 for the second phase, and February 25 for the third phase.
According to the State Election Commission, polling for the second phase will take place on February 20 across 43 development blocks in the state. The development blocks where voting will be held in this phase include Bilha in Bilaspur district, Pendra in Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district, Lormi in Mungeli district, Nawagarh in Janjgir-Champa district, and Malkharoda in Sakti district. In Korba district, voting will take place in Podi-Uproda, while in Raigarh district, polling will be held in Kharsia and Dharamjaigarh. Bilaigarh in Sarangarh-Bilaigarh district, Ramanujnagar and Premnagar in Surajpur district, and Balrampur in Balrampur district will also go to polls in this phase. Sitapur and Mainpat in Surguja district, Manendragarh in Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur district, and Jashpur, Manora, Duldula, and Kunkuri in Jashpur district are also included in this phase.
Polling will also be conducted in Dharsiwa and Tilda-Neora in Raipur district, Kasdol in Balodabazar district, Chhura in Gariaband district, and Pithora and Bagbahara in Mahasamund district. In Dhamtari district, Kurud will witness polling, while Patan in Durg district and Balod in Balod district will also go to polls. Chhuria in Rajnandgaon district, Khairagarh in Khairagarh-Chhuikhadan-Gandai district, and Mohla in Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki district are also part of this phase. Voting will be held in Bodla and Pandariya in Kabirdham district, Farasgaon and Makdi in Kondagaon district, and Bastar and Lohandiguda in Bastar district. In North Bastar Kanker district, polling will take place in Bhanupratappur and Durgukondal, while in South Bastar Dantewada district, Katekalyan will be part of this phase. Chhindgarh in Sukma district and Bhopalpattanam and Usoor in Bijapur district are also among the development blocks scheduled for polling in the second phase.
With all the arrangements in place, the second phase of polling is set to proceed smoothly across these designated development blocks. Voting will be conducted from 7 AM to 3 PM, while in the Bastar division, polling hours will be from 6:45 AM to 2 PM. State Election Commissioner Shri Ajay Singh has assured that the election process will be conducted in a free, fair, and transparent manner, ensuring the effective participation of voters.
