TV anchor moves Supreme Court to avoid arrest by Chhattisgarh cops

New Delhi, (thestates.news) : Anchor of a private TV channel Rohit Ranjan Shukla has approached the Supreme Court to evade arrest from the Chhattisgarh Police. The lawyer appearing for Rohit Ranjan, while mentioning from the vacation bench, said that the Noida Police have already arrested the anchor. Repeated arrest in the same case is ‘wrong’. The Supreme Court had earlier said to hear this petition on July 7. A statement by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in Rohit Ranjan’s TV program was played out in a wrong way. After this, Rahul Gandhi was criticized in political circles. Rohit  later apologized for misquoting Rahul’s statement on his show. FIRs were registered at Noida and Raipur and other places against the misrepresentation of Rahul Gandhi’s statement. For the arrest of Rohit Ranjan in this case, the Chhattisgarh Police reached his Ghaziabad home but was arrested by the Uttar Prdesh Police. The Police released them in the evening after interrogation.(HS)
