5,609 Coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours pushing the country’s tally to
1,12,359 on Thursday, while the recovery rate crossed 40 per cent for the first
time.
Presently, there are 63,624 active cases in the country, Health Ministry
stated.
The virus claimed lives of 3,435 people so far, after 132 more people succumbed
to it since Wednesday.
On the recovery front, as many as 45,300 infected patients have been cured.
The recovery rate was recorded at 38.73 per cent on Tuesday, while it was 40.32
per cent on Thursday, indicating a rise of 1.59 per cent over the last 48
hours.
Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Delhi and Rajasthan remain the
four worst affected states with Maharashtra registering 2,161 fresh infections,
taking the tally to 39,297. The state’s death toll stands at 1,390 after 65
fresh casualties were recorded.
According to the health ministry update, 10,318 patients have recovered in the
state so far.
Having recorded the second-highest number of cases Tamil Nadu now houses 13,191
patients after witnessing a surge of 743 infections with overall casualties at
87, including three fresh deaths.
In Gujarat, the total has now reached 12,537 after addition of 397 cases,
whereas the death toll has increased to 749. So far, 5,219 cases have been
cured and discharged in the state.
With 571 fresh cases the National Capital recorded 11,659 incidence.
According to the Delhi Government, there is an improvement registered in the
total number recoveries, with the figure now at 5567, after 375 cases being
cured and discharged.
Death toll has inched closer to 200 with the figure standing at 194, after 18
