Zomato changes company name to Eternal, App remains the same

New Delhi (thestates.news) | Restaurant aggregator and food delivery firm Zomato Ltd has decided to change its name to Eternal Ltd with the company board approving the same. In a stock exchange filing on Thursday, the company said that its board of directors vide resolution dated February 6, 2025 has approved the change in the name of the company and the consequential amendment in the Memorandum of Association and Articles of Association to give effect to the same.

“Please note that this change is subject to the approval of the shareholders of the company, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and other applicable statutory authorities, as required,” Zomato said in the filing. In a letter to shareholders, company co-founder and CEO Deepinder Goyal said that Eternal will comprise four major businesses (as of now) – Zomato, Blinkit, District, and Hyperpure.
“Eternal is a powerful name, and to be honest, it scares me to my core. It is a tall order to live up to. Because ‘Eternal’ carries both a promise and a paradox,” he said in the letter filed with the stock exchanges.

He further said, “This isn’t just a name change; it is a mission statement. A reminder etched into our identity that we will endure — not because we are here, but because we need to get there.”
Goyal stated that while Zomato would be rechristened as Eternal, the brand name and app will continue to be the same.
