Raipur (The States. news) Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel on Thursday conducted surprise inspection of paddy procurement centers of Jalbandha in Khairagarh block of Rajnandgaon district and village Birejhar of Durg district.
Mr. Baghel interacted with the farmers at Jalbandha Paddy Procurement Center and took review of arrangements made at the center for paddy procurement process. Responding to question of Chief Minister regarding the availability of paddy and gunny bags, the farmers said that they are selling their paddy conveniently with the proper arrangements at the center. They are selling paddy in their own gunny bags as well as the ones provided by the committees.
Agriculture Minister Mr. Ravindra Choubey, Food Minister Mr. Amarjeet Bhagat, Public Health and Engineering Minister Mr. Guru Rudra Kumar and Chhattisgarh State Civil Supplies Corporation Chairman Mr. Ram Gopal Agrawal were also present on the occasion.
Mr.
Bisoha Lodhi, a farmer hailing from village Petti, who was present in the
center, told Chief Minister that he does paddy cultivation in about one and a
half acres of land and have come to sell 51 ‘kattas’ of paddy today. He said
that he has opted for 6444 variety of paddy for cultivation. Mrs. Triveni
Verma, a female farmer hailing from village Pawantara, came to sell 55 ‘kattas’
of paddy today while Mr. Mahendra Verma of same village came to sell 170
‘kattas’ of paddy in the center today. Mr. Dilip Verma, a farmer of village
Petti, told that he is selling paddy at the procurement center for the second
time. He sold 258 ‘kattas’ of paddy today while 300 ‘kattas’ in his first
time.
While returning from Rajnandgaon tour, the convoy of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh
Baghel stopped at the Paddy Procurement Center in Birejhar and the Chief
Minister reached directly to meet the farmers who had come to sell paddy here.
While interacting with the farmers, Chief Minister took review of the
arrangements for paddy purchase at the center. He also asked the farmer’s about
this year’s yield.
The farmers told Chief Minister that they used vermi-compost in their fields this year which resulted in good yield. Ishwar Lal Dhangar, a farmer of Birejhar told that he got great benefits of using vermi-compost in his field. This has increased land fertility resulting in higher yields compared to last year.
Appreciating the system of paddy procurement at the center, Mr. Bunty Vaishnav, a farmer of Kharra told that the system has become quite well-organized. He no longer has to wait and is receiving his amount in his account after selling paddy at the center.
Another farmer Chhote Lal Sahu said that earlier the number of procurement centers was less which has increased now. The government has set up new procurement centers for the convenience of the farmers. This has benefited the farmers and removed the inconvenience.
The farmers told that the state government has also taken care of the convenience of small-scale farmers. The farmers were very excited with the arrival of the Chief Minister saying that it was a happy coincidence. They appreciated Chief Minister for interacting with the farmers present at the center. During the conversation, the farmers also told Chief Minister how the cow dung has proven to be useful for them. Agriculture Minister Mr. Ravindra Choubey was also present.
Meanwhile, farmers from Kharra, Hasda, Chikhla and Birejhar come to the Birejhar paddy procurement center for selling their paddy. Over 10,716 quintals of paddy have been procured here so far. The paddy lifting after procurement is also being done at a rapid pace with about three thousand quintals of paddy lifted so far.
