A one-day workshop on ‘Holistic Science Teaching’ for school teachers located in rural areas was organized jointly under the IQAC of Kalinga University and IEEE Student Wing

Raipur (thestates.news)| An initiative was taken by the IEEE SB of Kalinga University. The main intention of the workshop was to train science school teachers of rural areas nearby our campus.  The training was planned in a different way. Students are often taught by traditional bookish methods for understanding any science related topic. This workshop had an aim to suggest holistic ways for teaching concepts related to science and make the teaching learning process effective in schools. Total 49 Government school teachers from Abhanpur Block have registered and attended the event. Mr. M. Minj, BEO, Abhanpur was present as chief guest for the event on 3rd Sep, 2022. Dr. R. Shridhar, Vice Chancellor has given an insight on workshop and its importance towards NEP 2020. Mr. M. Minj also encouraged the participants and explained the importance of such events.

Event Coordinator Dr. Vijayalaxmi Biradar, IEEE KU Mentor has explained the participants about the complete procedure of this workshop and how marks will be allotted to each team on completion of the task. Mr. Anup Kumar Jana & Mr. Sarat Chandra Mohanty, IQAC Members have made all the participants to prepare the models on Hydraulic Lift, Hydraulic Press and Mechanical hand using unused materials. All teams have actively participated and prepared their model and explained the science behind them.

The complete event was conducted in offline mode on 3rd September, 2022. The venue of the event was Auditorium, Kalinga University. Both the days were covered by presentations as mentioned in the schedule followed by hands-on exercises. All the participants have shown their involvement throughout the workshop. IEEE volunteers have coordinated the event quite efficiently to make the event successful. Finally, the event received a grand success as participants expressed very positive view on the event and have shown their interest for such events in future. Participants have also requested to conduct such events on a regular basis in order to make them updated with latest tools for teaching science holistically.
