Raipur (thestates.news) |For the General Assembly Election 2023, the second special brief revision of electoral rolls is in progress in the state.  Meanwhile, door-to-door surveys are being conducted to identify and add the new unregistered citizens, to omit the names of the dead and permanently transferred voters and to create an accurate error-free voter list. Names of the new unregistered citizens of age 18 years will be added to the voter list through form 6. Form 7 will be filled for deletion of the names of dead or permanently transferred voters and form 8 will be made available for any amendment or transfer in voter’s details.  This time, for the revision, October 1, 2023 has been decided to be the qualifying date, i.e. the names of all the citizens who have completed 18 years of age on or before this date can be added to the voter list.  Voter Helpline App and Voter Service Portal are available for the general public to fill online form for addition, alteration and deletion.  BLO App will be used to fill the form by BLO.  Interested citizens can also fill the form offline on paper and submit it to the BLO.
According to the program issued by the Election Commission of India, the voter list will be published at first on August 2, 2023, and the final publication will be done on October 4, 2023, in all the polling stations of the state as well as on the website of the Chief Electoral Officer’s office.  In the 30-day review period from August 2 to August 31, extensive publicity and other awareness programs will be conducted under an intensive campaign to collect the forms in all the booths of the state.  Special camps will also be organized on 12 and 13 August and 19 and 20 August 2023.  The forms received for the revision will be resolved by the concerned Electoral Registration Officers by 22 September 2023, after which the final voter list will be published on 4 October 2023.

 Chief Electoral Officer, Chhattisgarh  Mrs. Reena Babasaheb Kangale said that to ensure transparency, the recognized political parties can appoint their booth level agents to provide necessary support in identifying new unregistered voters, deceased and transferred voters.  For this, a meeting of all the recognized political parties at the state and district level were held and they were informed in the context.  She further informed that after the electoral roll was published on January 5, a total of 1,96,671 new names have been added so far and as of today, a total of 1,95, 87, 994 voters are registered in the state. Post revision, the number of voters is expected to increase. Chief Electoral Officer has appealed to people to come forward and participate in the process of creating an  accurate and error-free electoral roll.
