CBI raids P. Chidambaram houses, accuses son in bribery case

New Delhi (thestates.news) | Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram said Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sleuths raided his residences in Chennai and Delhi as the agency registered a bribery case against his son Karti on Tuesday. Chidambaram tweeted that a CBI team raided his residence in Chennai and Delhi on Tuesday morning. He said that the CBI did not find anything in this search operation but the raids were “interesting”.

Chidambaram said the team showed him an FIR which did not name him as an accused. He added that the search team has not confiscated anything from his house. According to sources, the CBI raided in connection with a case against Chidambaram’s son and Lok Sabha MP Karti Chidambaram. Karti is accused of accepting a bribe of Rs 50 lakh for providing visas to 250 Chinese nationals. Chidambaram took to twitter: “This morning, a CBI team searched my residence at Chennai and my official residence at Delhi. The team showed me a FIR in which I am not named as an accused. The search team found nothing and seized nothing. I may point out that the timing of the search is interesting.”(HS)
