Chhattisgarh Government to introduce necessary legal provisions to control online gambling and betting

Instructions have been given to draft legal provisions in this regard

Raipur (thestates.news) Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has instructed DGP Shri Ashok Juneja to take stringent steps to curb the social menace of gambling and betting in the state. He has directed to draft necessary legal provisions and procedures for taking strict measures to effectively ban various forms and platforms of gambling and betting in the state. This will act as a base for making strict laws to prevent the illegal activities of gambling and betting.

Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh Government has been taking active steps to curb gambling and betting across the state. Necessary instructions are being given from time to time in this regard. The state police is taking strict action to prevent gambling and betting. However, people have now started using online platforms for gambling and betting purposes to avoid any legal action.

Stressing on the need for bringing a foolproof law to curb online gambling, Shri Baghel said “Online gambling has become one of the fastest growing sectors today. However, due to the lack of any legal provision and clear course of action, it cannot be effectively controlled. Taking a step ahead, the government will now draft necessary legal provisions and procedures to curb online gambling and betting.”
