Chief Minister Shri Sai Meets Union Minister Shri Scindia, Pushes for Stronger Digital Infrastructure
Raipur, (thestates.news) | Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai met Union Communications Minister Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia today at Sanchar Bhavan, New Delhi, and sought early approval for 2,305 mobile towers under the Digital Bharat Nidhi (DBN) scheme to strengthen mobile and internet connectivity across Chhattisgarh’s remote, tribal, border and inaccessible regions.
During the meeting, Shri Sai emphasized that robust digital connectivity has become a basic necessity for ensuring inclusive development. He said the State Government is committed to realising Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of Digital India by ensuring that the benefits of technology reach the last village and the last citizen. Improved connectivity, he said, would enhance access to education, healthcare, banking, digital payments, online public services and welfare schemes, while creating new opportunities for social and economic progress.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai thanked the Central Government and Union Minister Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia for approving 577 additional mobile towers for difficult and erstwhile Left Wing Extremism-affected regions, including Bastar. He informed that land-related No Objection Certificates (NOCs) have already been issued to BSNL for 489 of the 577 approved sites, while the remaining 88 are being processed on priority. Installation work has already commenced at locations where all required clearances have been completed.
Shri Sai said that stronger digital infrastructure would make a tangible difference in the lives of people living in remote areas by empowering students, farmers, women, youth and rural entrepreneurs through better access to online education, telemedicine, digital governance, financial services, skill development and market opportunities. He expressed confidence that the approval of the proposed 2,305 mobile towers would significantly boost digital connectivity and give fresh momentum to inclusive development across Chhattisgarh’s far-flung regions.
