Raipur (thestates.news) | Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel launched two innovation programs including ‘Mor Akhar’ and ‘Sports for Development’ in Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district today as part of his ‘Bhent-Mulaqat Abhiyan’. ‘Mor Akhar’ programme will be implemented in 299 primary schools of Gaurela and Pendra block, which is an initiative to improve the language skills of primary school children besides improving their reading and writing skills. Under the ‘Sports for Development’, a physical education based programme will be used to teach 543 primary school students to develop their learning skills as well as improve their physical and mental well-being encouraging them to lead a healthy lifestyle. Significantly, this method of physical education has been successfully used in about 50 countries of the world.
The closure of schools due Covid-19 pandemic period has led to loss of learning for children. Keeping this in view, ‘Mor Akhar’ programme has been started, which will be helpful in improving reading ability and reading habit in children. Similarly, Sports of Development has been started in all the schools of Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district with a purpose of physical and mental development in children and to get kids interested in sports. Under this programme, class appropriate, age appropriate and providing equal opportunities to boys and girls in sports. Both these programs will be conducted in collaboration with UNICEF.
