CIL SIGNS MoU WITH KOKILABEN HOSPITAL TO TREAT KIDS WITH THALASSEMIA

Raipur  (The States. news) | CIL has signed an MoU with Kokilaben Dhirubhai  Ambani Hospital, Mumbai for its flagship CSR initiative ‘Thalassemia Bal Seva Yojana’ for Bone Marrow Transplant operations of Thalassemia and Aplastic Anaemia affected children belonging to underprivileged families.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Shri. Vinay Ranjan, Director (P&IR), CIL and Dr. Santosh Shetty, CEO, Kokilaben Hospital at Mumbai. Kokilaben Hospital will admit children on the recommendation of an Expert Panel appointed by the Government and undertake Bone Marrow Transplant, and CIL will bear the treatment cost of upto ₹10 lakh per child.

Started by CIL in 2017, ‘Thalassemia Bal Sewa Yojana’ provides financial assistance of upto ₹10 lakh for eligible children from poor economic backgrounds suffering from Thalassemia and Aplastic Anaemia. Over 192 transplants have taken place in eight prominent hospitals empanelled under this scheme, for which CIL has spent ₹19 crores as part of this CSR initiative.
