70 lakh women receive Rs 1,000 each
Raipur (Thestates.news), In celebration of Teeja, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai has presented a substantial gift of Rs 1,000 to 70 lakh women in the state. This seventh installment of the Mahtari Vandan Yojana was transferred directly to their accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) during the ‘Teeja-Pora Mahtari Vandan Tihar’ event organized at his residence today. The women’s faces lit up with joy as they expressed their gratitude to their ‘Vishnu Bhaiya.’
The Mahtari Vandan Yojana was introduced to boost economic self-reliance among women, improve their health and nutrition levels, and enhance their role in the family. It also aims to address societal discrimination and inequality, raise awareness, and promote economic empowerment. The scheme provides Rs 1,000 per month to married, widowed, abandoned, and divorced women over the age of 21.
Launched by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on March 10, 2024, the scheme’s first installment was released by him. To date, over 70 lakh women have been selected as beneficiaries in the initial phase, with seven installments having been successfully transferred to their bank accounts.
