Constitution permits implementation of UCC: J P Nadda

Bengaluru, (thestates.news)| One of the major promises announced by BJP in its poll manifesto on Monday is the implementation of Uniform Civil Code and National Register for Citizens if it returns to power in Karnataka. In contrast to the opposition’s propaganda of terming its implementation as a Hindutva push, there is a provision in the Constitution to implement UCC in India, said National BJP President JP Nadda

In a press conference after releasing the saffron outfit’s poll manifesto for Karnataka election here, National BJP President JP Nadda told reporters that the Constitution permits and directs implementation of UCC. “We are working within the ambit of the Constitution. We will move towards the UCC,” he said.

He said the BJP will implement the UCC in Karnataka on the lines of ‘Justice for all and appeasement for none and ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas’ . The UCC in Karnataka will be implemented based on the recommendations given by a high-level committee which is to be constituted for the purpose, and introduce NRC in Karnataka and ensure speedy deportation of all illegal immigrants in the state, Nadda said.(UNI)
