Ahmedabad, (thestates.news) | Covid’s new variant XE has arrived in Gujarat. A male has been found infected with this variant in the Gotri area of Vadodara. Health Department is investigating further, travel history of the patient is being checked. According to Health Secretary Manoj Aggarwal, a sample test of a 67-year-old man, who came from Mumbai to Vadodara by flight, was conducted. The sample was sent to the Genome Sequencing Lab, Gandhinagar, and the report came positive last night. Genome sequences of XE variants were found in this patient’s sample. This is the first case of this variant in the state. According to Agarwal, all the reports of coronary testing of three other people who came in contact with the patient have come negative. The Health Department has given instructions to strictly follow the Covid Rules in Vadodara.(H.S.)
