DMF-Funded Road Transforms Connectivity and Speeds Up Development in Mining-Affected Villages

Mudhapar-Dhatura-Korbi-Khamhariya Road Upgraded at a Cost of Rs 180.93 Lakh Under DMF

Renovated 4.40-km Stretch Boosts Education, Healthcare, Agriculture and Rural Economy

The effective utilisation of the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) fund for the holistic development of mining-affected areas is emerging as a strong model of inclusive growth in Chhattisgarh. In Korba district, the newly upgraded Mudhapar-Dhatura-Korbi-Khamhariya road has resolved a decades-old connectivity challenge, bringing significant relief and improved mobility to thousands of villagers.

Implemented under the well-planned development strategy of Collector Kunal Dudawat, the 4.40-kilometre road has been renovated and strengthened at a cost of Rs 180.93 lakh through the DMF fund. The construction was completed on April 15, 2026, ensuring safe and all-weather connectivity for residents throughout the year.

Earlier, the road would get waterlogged and muddy during the monsoon, severely disrupting students’ education, patients’ access to healthcare, the transportation of agricultural produce, and the daily lives of villagers. With the improved road now in place, access to schools, hospitals and markets has become faster, safer and more convenient. Farmers are also able to transport their produce to markets on time, strengthening their livelihoods and improving market access.

More than just a transport corridor, the road has emerged as a catalyst for the social and economic transformation of the mining-affected villages. Enhanced connectivity has improved access to education, healthcare, trade and other essential services, creating fresh opportunities for growth and accelerating rural development across the region.

Expressing their gratitude to the district administration and the District Mineral Foundation, local residents said the resolution of a long-pending problem has brought a meaningful and positive change to their lives. The project stands as a compelling example of how the planned and people-centric utilisation of DMF funds can play a transformative role in improving the quality of life and fostering sustainable development in mining-affected areas.
