Raipur, ( thestates.news ) Police on Saturday night launched a massive drive across the city illegal trade of banned cigarettes. In view of repeated complaints against availability of banned cigarettes in the city and even sale of this banned product among minors, police on Saturday went all out against this illegal trade and conducted simultaneous raids all across the city. Police conducted raids in as many as 143 shops in the city under this drive and seized 4258 packets of banned cigarettes which do not have even the mandatory statutory warning printed on them. All the shop owners were later booked under Sections of Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA) by respective police stations.
