EAM calls on Dominican President, holds talks with counterpart

New Delhi/Santo Domingo,(thestates.news)| External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, who is visiting the Dominican Republic, called on President Luis Abinader and discussed the increasing bilateral contacts and economic and commercial ties. EAM also held talks with his Dominican counterpart Roberto Alvarez and joined in the inauguration of the Indian Embassy in the Caribbean nation. In tweets, EAM said that he called on President Luis Abinader and conveyed the greetings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Conveyed greetings of PM @narendramodi . “Value his vision for our bilateral and multilateral partnership. “Discussed our increasing political contacts, growing economic & commercial relations, business cooperation, capacity building and people to people ties.”
He also held talks with his Dominican counterpart Roberto Alvarez during which they discussed the growing bilateral ties and agreed on enhanced exchanges to boost the close ties. “Warm and wide-ranging discussions with FM @RobalsdqAlvarez  of Dominican Republic.

“Discussed our growing bilateral ties and shared perspectives on our neighborhoods; outlook on global developments and cooperation in the UN. “Agreed that this beautiful friendship between our countries will prosper more with our enhanced exchanges.” EAM also addressed the India-Dominican Republic Business Event in Santo Domingo during which he highlighted India’s increased interest in Latin America, and growing trade and increased investments in energy, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, mining, and IT.

On the inauguration of the Indian Embassy in Santo Domingo, at which he joined the nation’s Vice President Raquel Pena, he voiced confidence that the Resident Mission would mark a new phase of bilateral cooperation and help strengthen the ties.“Privileged to join Vice President of Dominican Republic @RaquelPenaVicein inaugurating the Embassy of India in the Dominican Republic.

“Our political relations are exceptionally cordial and we coordinate closely in the multilateral arena. “Confident that presence of our Resident Mission will mark a new phase of cooperation and help strengthen our ties in bilateral, regional and global domains.” He also thanked the President of Senate Eduardo Estrella, FM Roberto Alvarez, Defense Minister Carlos Luciano, Education Minister Franklin García Fermín for joining the inauguration ceremony.
