Mumbai (thestates.news) : Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Raut on Thursday accused the Election Commission of not being neutral, saying that confiscating the name and symbol of the Shiv Sena is completely wrong. Raut also said that the way the election symbol and name of the party was frozen, it was a political decision.
Sanjay Raut told reporters on Thursday that if the Election Commission of India works at someone’s behest or appoints people at the behest of the rulers, then democracy will not be able to survive in the country. Sanjay Raut said that the Supreme Court has reprimanded the Election Commission on the fact that no Election Commissioner is able to complete his term. Raut has also thanked the Supreme Court that it did not ignore the voice of the people.
Sanjay Raut said that after TN Seshan, the country has not got an Election Commissioner like him. For this reason, when Seshan contested the presidential election after his retirement, Shiv Sena voted for him, Raut said. The country needs a neutral Election Commissioner like TN Seshan, so that democracy can survive in the country, he added.(H.S)
