Election Commision directs central observers to ensure free & fair voting

New Delhi, (Thestates.news)| Reviewing the preparedness for the first phase of Lok Sabha election at a meeting, the Election Commision on Friday directed the central observers to ensure smooth, free and fair voting. The commission has deployed 127 General Observers, 67 Police Observers and 167 Expenditure Observers in total 102 Parliamentary Constituencies across 21 states which are scheduled to go for polls on April 19.
The meeting was chaired by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar along with Election Commissioners Gyanesh Kumar and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu.During the meeting, all the observers were asked to strictly ensure that polling stations contain all amenities for voters especially to combat heat, no inducements are offered close to voting of first phase, forces are optimally utilised and law and order is kept under strict watch.

The Central observers were also directed to ensure the preparedness for polling in all the constituencies well in advance and the level playing field for all the stakeholders i.e. candidates and political parties.
They were asked to remain physically available within the Parliamentary Constituency they are allotted during the entire election process.(UNI)
