Empowering Mothers : Chhattisgarh aims to benefit over 2 lakh beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana

Raipur (thestates.news) | In the financial year 2023-24, the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana aims to benefit more than two lakh women in Chhattisgarh. The set target includes 1.46 lakh beneficiaries for the first child and 75,000 beneficiaries for the second girl child. As part of the Mission Shakti scheme by the Government of India, eligible women receive Rs 5,000 in two installments upon the birth of their first child and a lump sum of Rs 6,000 if the second child is a girl. The state government is committed to ensuring that all eligible beneficiaries receive the full 100 per cent benefit of the scheme.

The Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, initiated nationwide on July 1, 2017, aims to enhance the nutritional well-being of pregnant and lactating women. Besides, it ensures compensation for loss of wages during pregnancy. Eligibility criteria includes all pregnant women and lactating mothers, excluding those in regular employment with Central or State Governments, Public Undertakings, or receiving similar benefits under existing laws.
