Freedom to live with pride: Panchayat and Rural Development Minister T.S. Singhdeo attended the felicitation ceremony for women beneficiaries of MNREGA

140 women, who were benefited from the livelihood based works done on private land, fecilitated in the ceremony

Raipur  (The States. news) As many as 140 women benefitted from the works of livelihood on private land, under MNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act), were felicitated today by the state MNREGA office. Celebrating International Women’s Day as ‘Iconic Week’ and acknowledging the ever-increasing participation of women beneficiaries in MNREGA, five women from every district were honored on the occasion. Panchayat and Rural Development Minister T.S. Singhdeo joined the program online from Manipur.

Addressing the award ceremony, Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Mr. Singhdeo said that as far as possible, the livelihood-based works on private land under MNREGA should be approved under the name of women. This will record their strong participation in the economic progress of the family. At the felicitation ceremony organized on the theme of “freedom to live with pride”, Mr. Singhdeo appreciated the women beneficiaries from seven districts of Dhamtari, Gariaband, Rajnandgaon, Kanker, Kondagaon, Kabirdham and Dantewada, who have created means of livelihood from the assets built on their private land under MGNREGA

In the program Ahilya Yadav of Kabeerdham district, who got shade for goat rearing from MNREGA, Phuleshwari Bai Sahu of Gariaband district and Lata Bai of Dhamtari, who were benefited from the construction of dabri in private land for fish farming and for construction of poultry shed were felicitated. Later, Padmani Kumeti of Kanker district, who practices poultry farming, told about her new means of livelihood and source of income developed through MNREGA. Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Singhdeo asked these women about their works related to poultry, goat and cattle sheds, inquired how they arrange for fodder, treatment, medicines, and also asked about the price they get in the market. He conveyed his best wishes for even better work ahead.

In the felicitation ceremony, Deputy Secretary and Additional Commissioner of Panchayat and Rural Development, MNREGA Ashok Choubey, President and Chief Executive Officer of all District Panchayats, Sarpanchs, officers-employees of MNREGA were virtually present.
