The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Chhattisgarh State Council, recently hosted a high-impact industry interaction on the theme “Gateway to Global Trade: Export Incentives & ICD Development” in Raipur. The event was designed to facilitate dialogue around export facilitation, policy support, and the broader implications of global trade dynamics. Attended by over 140 delegates, the session brought together senior government officials, industry leaders, policy experts, and stakeholders from across the trade and logistics sectors.
The session began with welcome remarks by Mr. Sanjay Jain, Chairman, CII Chhattisgarh State Council and Managing Director of RSV Exim Pvt Ltd. He highlighted the immense potential of Chhattisgarh as an emerging trade and investment hub, with special reference to strategic global markets including Japan.
Dr. Saugat Mukherjee, Principal Adviser, CII, provided valuable insights on the importance of market facilitation and strategic alignment in the context of global trade integration, aligning with CII’s broader national agenda. He also made a detailed presentation on CII’s Market Facilitation Services (MFS) – a unique, tailor-made offering from CII designed to support and accelerate the business expansion plans of organizations. Notably, MFS has catered to over 50+ products across 20+ countries, with more than 75% of projects being successfully implemented as per the recommendations provided.
Delivering the keynote address, Mr. Amit Choudhary, Joint Commissioner, Central Excise and GST, Raipur, spoke in depth about available export incentives and the roadmap for Inland Container Depot (ICD) development in the state. He underlined the need for infrastructure-led facilitation to enable exporters from the region to integrate better into global value chains.
Adding a global trade perspective, Mr. Vimal Pruthi, Partner – India Global Trade & Customs (Indirect Tax), EY, discussed evolving U.S. tariff dynamics and their implications for Indian exporters, offering strategic viewpoints to help businesses recalibrate their export approaches.
Mr. Bhavesh Mittal, Convener, CII Chhattisgarh Finance & Taxation Panel and Partner at HNA & Co LLP, addressed the upcoming reforms under GST 2.0 and shared their anticipated impact on regional industries, giving participants a clearer understanding of the regulatory and compliance environment ahead.
The event concluded with an interactive open house session, followed by a formal vote of thanks by Mr. Bajrang Goel, Vice Chairman, CII Chhattisgarh State Council and Director of Shri Bajrang Power & Ispat Ltd. He expressed appreciation for the participants’ engagement and reiterated the Council’s commitment to advancing practical, policy-focused dialogues that support trade enablement.
