Government of India directs the ration card holders to complete the e-KYC process by July 31, 2023

Raipur (thestates.news) | The Government of India has directed the completion of the 100 percent e-KYC process for beneficiaries of the National Food Security Act under the “One Nation, One Ration Card Scheme” by July 31, 2023. This move aims to ensure a seamless implementation of the scheme, which requires the authentication of Aadhaar information for all members of ration cards. Currently, the distribution of food grains faces challenges due to incorrect Aadhaar registration and non-authentication of beneficiaries’ information. To address this issue, the government is conducting e-KYC authentication for individuals to correct any discrepancies whose Aadhaar details are registered in the departmental database.

The Food Department officials shared that government fair-price shops in the state are equipped with e-POS devices that provide e-KYC facilities. The e-KYC process is free of charge. To complete the e-KYC, the head of the ration cardholder and all registered members must visit the government fair price shop with their respective Aadhaar numbers. The fair price shop operator will then enter each member’s Aadhaar number separately into the e-POS device and scan their fingerprints to complete the e-KYC process. This streamlined approach ensures accurate verification and authentication of ration cardholders, facilitating a smoother distribution of essential food items.
