Mumbai (thestates.news): Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray Party) leader and Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Raut on Monday said that the central government should also install a statue of Veer Savarkar adjacent to the statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose near India Gate.
Raut said that the Central Government should immediately honour Veer Savarkar with the Bharat Ratna Award. Along with this, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena President Raj Thackeray has also been advised to do mature politics.
Raut told reporters on Monday morning that he loves Veer Savarkar from his heart while the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) love for Savarkar is just an illusion. He said that if BJP truly loves Veer Savarkar, then it should install a grand statue of Veer Savarkar near the statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose at India Gate, so that Veer Savarkar can get more respect. He said that there is already a demand for Bharat Ratna award to Veer Savarkar, the award is not going to honour Veer Savarkar but it will be the other way around.
The vociferous MP said that the leaders who contributed in the freedom struggle and the leaders who contributed in the development of the country should not be insulted. Politics is being done by throwing mud against Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Pandit Nehru, Babasaheb Ambedkar, Sardar Patel, Veer Savarkar and other leaders who are not alive today, he added.
Raut reminded that Pandit Nehru had apologised for making wrong statements about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj while he was the Prime Minister. Similarly, former Prime Minister Morarji Desai also apologised for making wrong statements against Shivaji, now Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and BJP’s national spokesperson are not apologising for making derogatory statements against the great icon and BJP is supporting them. The sentiments of the people of the state are getting hurt, due to which public anger is increasing.
Sanjay Raut told Raj Thackeray should stop mimicking other party leaders and do mature politics. If the public wants to see mimicry, then they will see the mimicry of Johny Lever, not of Raj Thackeray. Raj Thackeray should focus on the problems of Maharashtra and do politics on them. Raj Thackeray did mimicry of many other leaders including Uddhav Thackeray in the party’s program on Sunday.(HS)
