Inauguration of “Microbiologist Society India” Unit for Kalinga University An initiative of Department of Zoology, Faculty of Science

Raipur (thestates.news) |Kalinga University, Department of Zoology, Faculty of Science took the initiative of the inauguration of “Microbiologist Society India” (MBSI) Unit for Kalinga University. The program was held on 24 August 2022 at the auditorium, Kalinga University under the guidance of Dr. Manoj Singh,Head, Department of Zoology, Faculty of Science. The event was coordinated by other faculty members of the department; Dr. Ajay Harit and Dr. Sohini Bhattacharayya.

The event was inaugurated by Dr. Arvind Madhavrao Deshmukh, President of MBSI  (Dr. Deshmukh is an ex-professor and head of the department of Microbiology of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University at Osmanabad) in the presence of Dr. R. Shridhar Vice Chancellor, Dr. Byju John Director General, Dr. Sandeep Gandhi Registrar,Rahul Mishra Dean Academic Affairs, Dr. C.K. Sharma Dean, Faculty of Science, Heads, faculty members and students of different departments.

After the inauguration of the Society, Dr. Deshmukh highlighted the benefits of the society to the university, faculty members, and students, of these few, are listed below

  • to encourage and support research in microbiology.
  • to established a library of microbiology literature.
  • to arrange funds and donations etc. for the promotion of subject activities
  • support conferences, seminars, symposia, exhibitions, and meeting
  • to arrange lectures and demonstrations on any aspects of Microbiology.
  • to organize courses in Microbiology at all levels of education.
  • to cultivate links between governmental and non-governmental institutions academies, societies, and other organization non-organizations in the field of microbiology.

Dr. R. Shridhar Vice Chancellor appreciated the collaboration between KU and MBSI for constituting this unit and motivated the participants for their active participation in future activities of this unit. Dr. Shridhar also apricated the effort taken by the Department of Zoology for establishing this unit at Kalinga University. The event was graced by the presence of Heads and faculty members of various departments (Zoology, Microbiology, Botany, and Biotechnology) of universities and colleges of Chhattisgarh such as Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur; Bhilai Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Bhilai; Government V.Y.T.PG Autonomous College, Durg; Government Danveer Tularam PG College, Utai, and Government Digvijay College, Rajnandgaon

The event was also attended by Faculty members and students of the Faculty of Science (Microbiology, Botany, Biotechnology, Forensic Science, and College of Pharmacy), Kalinga University. More than 100 people participated in the inauguration ceremony of “The Microbiologist Society India” (MBSI) Unit for Kalinga University.The event was followed by a talk by Dr. Sanjeev Patankar National Coordinator of MBSI on “Role of Bio-innovation & Entrepreneurship on career prospects in Life Science”. The event ended up with a vote of thanks by Dr. C. K. Sharma, Dean Faculty of Science on the behalf of organizing committee.
