Patna, (Thestates.news)| Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday said the INDIA alliance has ‘collapsed’ after his exit as parties one after the other were deserting it. Kumar told media persons here that he had tried his best to unite all opposition parties at the national level but it could not materialise. Even the name of opposition INDIA alliance was not liked by him and he had suggested something else.
The Chief Minister said that things were not moving in the right direction in INDIA alliance. Fed up with affairs in INDIA bloc, he decided to walk away, Nitish added. To a query about about his chance interaction with RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav at the entrance of the Assembly, Kumar said only pleasantries were exchanged and nothing else.
To a query about the statement of RJD chief that doors were open for him, he, while referring to NDA, said that he had returned to the ‘old place’ and would continue to work for the development of Bihar. The Chief Minister said that his government had conducted a caste-based survey in Bihar and also increased the reservation limit for backwards and deprived from 50 to 65 per cent.
Former Bihar Chief Minister Karpoori Thakur was the first leader to give reservation for backwards and extremely backwards in government services in the seventies, he pointed out. Nitish to a query about expansion of his cabinet, said it would be done on time. At present, there were eight Ministers in his team and all the work was being done smoothly, Kumar added.(UNI)
