New Delhi(thestates.news)| : Former India head coach Ravi Shastri has said that he has seen the best group of batsmen ever in the Indian squad announced for the ICC T20 World Cup. He also said that India will have a new team after the tournament.
When Shastri was the coach of the Indian team in the T20 World Cup last year, the team won just three out of five matches and failed to advance to the knockout rounds of the tournament. With the recent performance of Suryakumar Yadav and veteran finisher Dinesh Karthik re-joining the middle order, India’s batting line-up now looks more stable. Despite the absence of leading pacer Jasprit Bumrah due to injury, Shastri feels India’s batsmen can take the team to the semi-finals this time around.
The ICC quoted Mr. Shastri as saying, I have been a part of the system for the last six seven years, first as a coach and now I am looking from the outside, and I think it is an equally good line-up. It is as much as India had in T20 cricket. I am seeing a new team near India after this World Cup. However, Shastri is a little worried about India’s fielding. The former coach said the team would need to perform better in this area throughout the competition. One area that India will have to pick and start from the very beginning is the fielding, he said.
Ravi Shastri said, They need to work hard and give their best on the field when the team gets into the first match against Pakistan and saves 15-20 runs then only difference can come, otherwise every time you come out to bat So you have to score 15-20 extra runs. RaviShastri said, Teams like Australia, England, and South Africa are excellent in fielding. Sri Lanka won the Asia Cup title by defeating Pakistan due to fielding in Asia Cup. Let us tell you that India’s first match in the T20 World Cup is against arch-rivals Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on 23 October.(HS)
