Indian Railways reaching new heights in manufacturing sector : PM Modi

Warangal (Telangana),(thestates.news)| Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that Indian Railways is reaching new heights in the manufacturing sector with the production of thousands of modern coaches and locomotives over the years. Addressing after laying foundation stone for construction of Railway Manufacturing Unit at Kazipet and also for several other important National Highway Projects in Telangana State at a function held here, Modi said that now Kazipet has also become a proud partner of the Make in India concept embarked upon by the Indian Railways.

The construction of the Railway Manufacturing Unit at Kazipet will generate new employment opportunities and will be beneficial for many families in the region, he said. The Manufacturing Unit is expected to produce around 200 wagons per month, the PM said. He said the people of Telangana have played a key role in making India the 5th largest economy in the world. We are witnessing a golden period in the history of the Nation and we should utilize every opportunity towards the progress of the Nation.

The Prime Minister also stated that in the past nine years, the Indian government has laid special emphasis on infrastructure development and improved connectivity in Telangana region.
Concluding the address, the Prime Minister said that this is the policy adapted by the Government of India known as ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ as he urged to take Telangana forward on this mantra of development.

Addressing the gathering, Union Minister for Highways Nitin Jairam Gadkari, stated the Government has accorded the highest priority to Infrastructure development. As part of the Gati Shakti scheme, every stage of Infrastructure projects from planning to implementation is being undertaken with proper corporation, coordination and communication, he said.

Consequently, the projects are being completed at a much faster pace and today the National Highway connectivity in Telangana State has reached 5000 Kms, Gadkari said. Union Tourism Minister and newly-elected state President G. Kishan Reddy, stated that under the leadership of our Prime Minister the Road and Railway transport sectors in India has witnessed major developments over the years.

Speaking on Rail developmental projects, he said that the Railway Manufacturing Unit project at Kazipet has been undertaken with a cost of around Rs. 521 crore on 160 acres and is expected to manufacture around 2400 wagons per year. In addition, the Railways has sanctioned the Hyderabad – Yadadri MMTS project with a cost of Rs. 350 crore. Further, the Secunderabad Railway station is being redeveloped with airport standard facilities, he said.

The Railway Manufacturing Unit at Kazipet is initially expected to produce 1200 wagons in the first year — 100 wagons per month. Subsequently, during the second year the manufacturing capacity is likely to be increased to 2400 wagons per year. The Railway Manufacturing Unit at Kazipet will spur the ecosystem of new industrial development in Hanumakonda region of Telangana State and will play an important role in the socio-economic progress of the people in the region.

Telangana Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan, Karimnagar MP and former State BJP President Bandi Sanjay Kumar, also graced the occasion. SCR General Manager Arun Kumar Jain, and other senior officials from Railways were also present on the occasion.(UNI)
