International Literacy Day; a day to awaken the power of letters,words,knowledge and literacy: Chief Minister Mr. Baghel

Chief Minister congratulated the people of the state on International Literacy Day.

Raipur (thestates.news) | Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has greeted the people of the state on the occasion of International Literacy Day on 8 September. In his congratulatory message issued  today, Mr. Baghel has said that International Literacy Day is a day to remember the the power of letters,words,wisdom and literacy. This day is celebrated to take a pledge to spread happiness and prosperity in the society with the light of knowledge. He further said that in reality, the knowledge of alphabets is the first step, from where the infinite paths of knowledge open. Literacy is directly related to education and education is related to development. Literacy Day is a day to be proud of the current level of literacy in the country. It is a day to reflect and pledge to make almost every single person of the country literate. It requires a great deal of individual interest and collective efforts. This goal can be achieved with wide public participation.

The Chief Minister has said that a literate society is the basic foundation of equality, peace and development. In 1966, UNESCO decided to celebrate 8 September as International Literacy Day. The theme of Literacy Day 2022 is “Transforming Literacy Learning Spaces”. A new scheme named New India Literacy Program has been approved for the year 2022-27. Now the word “old age education” has been changed to “education for all” in the country. Under the National Education Policy, a new beginning has been made this year with the Navbharat Literacy Program, which will be conducted for five years. It focuses on basic literacy and numeracy, important life skills like digital literacy, financial literacy, legal literacy, electoral literacy, vocational skill development, basic education, lifelong education, health and sanitation etc are included.

On the occasion of International Literacy Day, Mr. Baghel has called upon the people of the state to participate actively in the program and move towards digital literacy, awareness and attaining life-long education, making Chhattisgarh 100% literate. We have to touch new dimensions of literacy so that we can explore the road to development better. He has appealed to all the students studying in schools and colleges to participate in the noble cause of literacy. New achievements of literacy will ensure golden future of the state and we will fulfill the goal of creating a new Chhattisgarh ie, Gadbo Nava Chhattisgarh.
