Raipur (thestates.news) International Day of Yoga is an annual event celebrated on June 21 to raise awareness worldwide about the benefits of practicing yoga. The word ‘yoga’ derives from Sanskrit
and means to join or to unite, symbolizing the union of body and consciousness.

Kalinga University celebrated the 10 th International Yoga Day with the theme “Yoga for
Self and Society” with great enthusiasm and fervour on Friday, 21st June. The event was
organized by the Faculty of Science (Department of Yoga) and the Dean Student Welfare
of Kalinga University. The event was attended by the faculty and other staff members of
the University.

The International Yoga Day began with the Chanting of Om. The attendees actively
participated in various yoga asanas and breathing exercises, guided by Dr. Rajesh Manik
and Dr. Dhananjay Jain from the Yoga department. The session aimed to provide all the
participants with a first-hand experience of the holistic benefits of yoga and its ability to
promote a healthy lifestyle.
After the session, a vote of thanks was proposed by Dr R. Jaya Kumar, Dean of
Science, appreciating the efforts of the department and faculties to make it a grand
success.
The International Yoga Day Celebration at Kalinga University was a resounding success,
highlighting the importance of yoga in achieving physical and mental well-being.
The celebration concluded with the distribution of a nutritious Prasadam.
