Kalinga University organized a webinar on“Power your Decision with Data”

Raipur (thestates.news) | The Central Library, Kalinga University, and the Department of Library and Information Science jointly organized a national-level webinar on “Power your Decision with Data” on August 12, 2024. The webinar was organized on the National Librarian’s Day of India. This event was conducted on the auspicious occasion of the 132nd birth anniversary of Dr. S.R. Ranganathan, who is regarded as the Father of Library and Information Science in India.


Dr. Mohammad Nasir, the University Librarian, Professor, and Head, conducted the introduction and welcome session for all dignitaries. He presented potted plants during the occasion. Honorable Vice Chancellor Dr. R. Shridhar, Registrar Dr. Sandeep Gandhi, Dean Academic Affairs- Dr. Rahul Mishra, Dean Faculty of Law- Dr. Azim Khan and Librarian of IIIT Raipur Mr. Ajit Kumar Roy were present at the event.

The webinar was conducted on the Microsoft Teams platform. Approximately 100 individuals from
various regions of India attended this informative webinar. Dr. Mohammad Nasir, the university
librarian, presented the opening lecture and emphasized upon Dr. S. R. Ranganathan’s contributions to research fields. Prominent experts from various parts of India were present in the session. Three experts Librarians from various Central Universities including Dr. A.K Sharma (University Librarian, Guru Ghasidas Central University), Dr. Savita Mittal (Deputy Librarian, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University), and Dr. Rajeev Vashistha (Deputy Librarian, Central Library of Haryana) delivered a talk on Reference Management and Bibliometric.

Librarians from various institutes throughout India attended the program and engaged in a discussion on Dr. Ranganathan’s initiatives in the digital era environment. The panelists included Dr. P.R Meena, Dr. Narendra Kumar Chimni, Dr. Anil Kumar Jharotia, Dr. K.P Singh, Dr. Mange Ram, Dr. Tanveer Haider Naqvi, and Mr. Ajit Kumar Roy. Dr. Tanveer Haider Naqvi got connected from Fiji.

Finally, the central library offered a demonstration session on Bibliometric tools. The Programme
conducted with a vote of thanks. The demonstration and vote of thanks were given by Mr. Basudeb
Jana, Assistant Librarian at Kalinga University.
