Raipur (The States. news) | Large number of enthusiastic students and faculty members from Kalinga University took part in the ‘Walk a Cause’ event organized by District Police Raipur for zero tolerance for crime against women on Sunday, 13th March. The event included a walk of 3 kilometers which started at 7:30 am from Marine drive upto Ghadi Chowk and back. The vision of the event was to ‘Empower a woman to empower next generation, educate a women to educate next generation.
’ Hon’ble Mayor Shri Aijaz Dhebar, Hon’ble MLA Shri Kuldeep Juneja and Chairperson of the Women’s Commission, Dr. Kiranmayi Nayak were the Chief Guests during the program. The event “walk a cause” was an initiative that aims to unite women from different sections of society for witnessing the heat of Crime against women. The event was organized to applaud the dominance and victory of women in every field of education, service, business, etc. and to celebrate the spirit and their social rights to bring change in society. The Participants also performed Jumba dance on this occasion.
Large number of young enthusiasts took part in the walk which started from Marine drive and was flagged off by Mayor, Shri Aijaz Dhebar. Three kilometers walk was completed by the participants starting from Marine drive passing through Nagar Ghadi Chowk and returning back to Marine drive for creating awareness on crime against women. Women police personnels, sports persons, professionals and citizens took part in the event for the good cause.
Under the guidance of Dr. Sandeep Gandhi, Registrar and Dr. Asha Ambhaikar, Dean Student Welfare (DSW) of Kalinga University, students from Kalinga University were accompanied by faculty members Mrs. Smita Premanand, NSS Program Officer and Assistant Professor in Fashion Designing, Dr. Rakesh Bharti, Sports Director, Ms. Swati Agrawal, Young Indian coordinator and Assistant Professor in Civil Engineering Department, Dr. Komal Gupta, NSS Program coordinator and Assistant Professor Commerce and Management, Mr. Simon George, Young Indian coordinator and soft skill trainer, Mr. Raj Kumar Das, Assistant DSW and Assistant Professor in Arts and Humanities and Mr. Sheikh Abdul Kadir, Assistant Professor in Arts and Humanities.
Organizers offered Kalinga University a memento and certificate of participation on the occasion.
