Mamata-led Oppn meeting underway, Owaisi left sulking

Hyderabad,( thestates.news) | AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi said on Wednesday that he was not invited to a meeting with Opposition leaders called by Trinamool Congress (TMC) supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to discuss the Presidential elections. Mamata Banerjee is meeting Opposition leaders to discuss presidential elections and how to fight the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance together.

The TMC supremo had invited leaders of 19 political parties, including eight non-Congress Opposition Chief Ministers, including K Chandrashekar Rao (TRS), Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann (AAP), Naveen Patnaik (BJD), Pinarayi Vijayan (CPM), Hemant Soren (JMM), M K Stalin (DMK), and Uddhav Thackeray (Shiv Sena).West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee flew to Delhi and met Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Sharad Pawar. The presidential elections will be held on July 18.

According to sources, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is unlikely to send a representative to Mamata’s meeting amid efforts to reach an agreement on an opposition-backed candidate. According to sources, Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP will not be present at the meeting. According to sources, AAP will consider the issue only after the candidate for the upcoming Presidential election is announced.(HS)
