Pune (thestates.news) | MIT Art, Design and Technology University (MIT-ADT University) has announced the launch of its School of Artificial Intelligence (SoAI), a pioneering academic initiative that marks a defining moment in the University’s journey towards becoming an institution of national eminence. The School has been established with a focused mission — to nurture ethical, creative, and technically skilled AI professionals who can drive transformative change across industry and society.
SoAI will offer the B.Tech in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning and B.Tech in Artificial Intelligence & Data Science — a four-year undergraduate programme built on a strong Computer Science and Engineering foundation and advanced AI core. Students may specialise in either Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI & ML) or Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (AI & DS), enabling them to build deep expertise in areas such as deep learning, computer vision, natural language processing, generative AI, data analytics, and intelligent systems design.
What distinguishes SoAI from conventional engineering schools is its AI-first pedagogy. From the very first semester, students will engage with real-world datasets, live industry problems, and state-of-the-art AI tools. The School will operate on an AI Practice School model — where students undertake semester-long industry immersions working on live AI projects, going far beyond the limitations of traditional short-term internships.
The curriculum has been designed in alignment with the National Education Policy 2020, offering flexible specialisation pathways and application majors in high-impact domains including Healthcare, FinTech, Agritech, and Generative and Agentic AI. Interdisciplinary electives spanning cloud computing, blockchain, quantum computing, and human-computer interaction further broaden the learning horizon, preparing graduates for the full spectrum of opportunities in an AI-driven economy.
Industry integration is a foundation of the SoAI model. The School plans to forge active partnerships with leading technology companies, enabling co-taught courses with industry practitioners, joint certification programmes in collaboration with global platforms such as AWS Academy, Coursera, and edX, and industry-sponsored capstone projects sourced directly from partner organisations. Every student will benefit from a dual mentorship structure — pairing an academic guide with an industry mentor — ensuring that the gap between classroom learning and professional practice is meaningfully bridged.
SoAI will be housed within MIT-ADT University’s expansive campus at Loni Kalbhor, Pune, spread across 15 lakh square feet of state of the art academic infrastructure. The School will be equipped with dedicated AI laboratories, ICT-enabled smart classrooms, GPU and TPU-powered computing infrastructure, and research incubation spaces, providing students with the environment to experiment, prototype, and innovate at scale.
Ethics and responsible innovation are not elective additions at SoAI, they are central to its academic philosophy. Courses in Explainable AI, AI Governance, Fairness-aware modelling, and data privacy are embedded into the core curriculum. The School is committed to producing graduates who do not merely build powerful AI systems, but who understand their societal implications and lead with conscience.
“Admissions for the B.Tech AI & ML and B.Tech AI & DS programmes for the Academic Year 2026–27 are now open. MIT-ADT University invites aspiring students to become part of this transformative academic journey and contribute to India’s rapidly evolving AI ecosystem,” said Dr. Rajesh S., Vice-Chancellor of MIT-ADT University, while addressing the recent press conference organised by MIT-ADT University regarding the launch of the School of Artificial Intelligence.
