PUNE (thestates.news) : Aligning with this year’s global theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” MIT Art, Design and Technology (MIT-ADT) University celebrated International Yoga Day 2026 with large-scale participation and enthusiasm on campus.
The event witnessed active involvement of students, faculty members, and non-teaching staff under the iconic canopy of the Saint Dnyaneshwara World Peace Dome, symbolising a message of peace, harmony, and global unity. Participants collectively pledged to incorporate yoga into daily life for holistic well-being and healthier living.
The celebration was jointly organised by the University’s School of Holistic Development (SHD) in collaboration with the Ministry of AYUSH (Government of India), International Naturopathy Organization, Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, The Art of Living Foundation, and Surya Foundation.
Recognised as one of the largest dome structures in the world, the World Peace Dome stands as a symbol of the synthesis of science and spirituality. It was conceptualised and built by Prof. Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad, Founder President of MIT-ADT University. The event was conducted under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Mangesh Karad, Pro-Chancellor and Executive President of the University.
The programme was attended by several dignitaries, including Executive Director Prof. Dr. Sunita M. Karad, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rajesh S, Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohit Dubey, Controller of Examinations Dr. Dnyandeo Nilwarna, Director of SHD & Chief Coordinator Dr. Atul Patil, Director of Sports Prof. Padmakar Phad, and Campus Director Dilip Patil, among others.
The event began with a welcome address by Dr. Atul Patil, followed by the screening of motivational video messages from leading yoga practitioners and a presentation showcasing the university’s health and wellness initiatives involving over 3,700 students. A specially curated yoga booklet was also released on the occasion.
In her presidential address, Executive Director Prof. Dr. Sunita M. Karad said yoga is not merely physical exercise but a way of life essential for maintaining mental balance and physical well-being in today’s fast-paced world.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rajesh S said the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing” must be embraced by the younger generation to build a stronger and more resilient society.
The core session included guided yoga demonstrations and meditation practices led by experts from the School of Holistic Development in accordance with the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP).
The event concluded with the singing of the National Anthem, marking the successful culmination of the celebrations.
