Rehabilitated Youth Move Beyond Violence-Affected Past Through Theatre and Art
Raipur, (thestates.news) | The Narayanpur District Administration has launched an innovative initiative to empower rehabilitated youth to rejoin mainstream life through art and theatre. In coordination with the National School of Drama (NSD), New Delhi, the District Administration organised a 30-day performance-oriented theatre training workshop in Narayanpur.
During the training, the participants received practical training in acting, theatre, performance and various forms of art.
The 30-day training programme aimed to provide a platform for the creative talent of rehabilitated youth, build their confidence, and connect them with mainstream society through art and culture. A total of 100 rehabilitated tribal youth and 25 local youth participated in the main workshop.
*From Training to the Stage*
Following the 30-day training, the rehabilitated youth staged the theatre and artistic performance they had prepared. The surrendered Naxal youth who underwent the training also performed at the closing ceremony of the Chakradhar Samaroh held in Raigarh. The performance provided them with an opportunity to showcase their art and talent on an important public platform.
Moving beyond a past affected by violence and building their identity through theatre and art has emerged as a positive step in the process of their rehabilitation and integration into mainstream society.
The District Administration conceptualised this initiative to provide opportunities for youth in line with their talents and to offer a platform for Bastar’s art and culture.
This coordinated effort by the Narayanpur District Administration and the National School of Drama, New Delhi, is an important step toward establishing art as an effective medium for rehabilitated youth to express themselves, build confidence, and connect with mainstream society.
