Chanidgarh, (thestates.news): As former Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Navjot Singh Sidhu, on Saturday, walked out of Patiala jail, he alleged that there was a conspiracy to impose President’s rule in Punjab. Sidhu, who spent almost 10 months in Patial jail in a 1988 road rage case, speaking to media outside the jail said, wherever there were minorities in majority, they were being harassed. He said if anyone will try to weaken Punjab, they will become weak, adding that Punjab was shield of the country and there were attempts to break this shield.
Congress leader alleged that there was no democracy in the country. ‘Democracy is in chains,’ he said.Mr Sidhu said that he was there to stand with Rahul and Priyanka. “Their ancestors were among who fought for the freedom of the country,” he added. Many supporters had gathered outside jail since morning to welcome Sidhu. On his official twitter handle, it was announced on Friday that he will be released on Saturday.(UNI)
