Nearly 3.75 lakh migrant labourers and other people have safely returned to Chhattisgarh till date

Raipur (thestates.news) Nearly 3 lakh 75 thousand migrant labourers and other peope have safely returned to Chhattisgarh via shramik special trains, buses and other mediums, on special initiative of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel. This includes one lakh six thousand 928 labourers who have returned via 78 shramik special trains. Migrant labourers have thanked Chief Minister for their safe return to home state. It is noteworthy that lakhs of labourers of Chhattisgarh were stranded in other states of the country due to the circumstances underlockdown implemented for prevention of COVID-19 infection. State Government created an effective strategy and ensured safe return of these labourers to Chhattisgarh via shramik special trains, buses. It is noteworthy that State Government has spent nearly 4 crore 16 lakh railway boards and buses till date to ensure safe return of labourers from other states. Besides, Revenue and Calamity Management Department has spent nearly Rs 18 crore 20 lakh and Health Department has spent nearly 75 crore on relief works the labourers. Dr Daharia informed that a team of Labour Department officials has been contrituted to coordinate with industrial organizations, planners and managers for providing ration, cash and other facilities to the labourers. In the second phase of lockdown that commenced from April 21, nearly one lakh 8158 labourers have been provided employment by restarting 1464 factories in industrial areas and other economic activities allowed by the government. Dr Dahariya said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel, these labourers are being provided employment under MNREGA. He informed tha provision has been made to issue job card to the migrant labourers who do not have MNREGA job card. They are also being provided ration free of cost.
