Old pension scheme implemented in Chhattisgarh

  • Chief Minister had announced resumption of this scheme during the budget session
  • Instructions issued to deduct 12 percent of the basic salary for provident fund from the month of April

Raipur (thestates.news) On the initiative of Chief Minister Mr. BhupeshBaghel, implementation of the old pension scheme has been resumed for the state government employees in Chhattisgarh. With this decision, the officers and employees of the new contributory pension scheme will be able to enjoy the benefits of the old pension scheme from this financial year. Nearly three lakh officers and employees will get benefitted from this decision.It is worth mentioning that in the budget session of the VidhanSabha, Chief Minister Mr. BhupeshBaghel had announced the resumption of the old pension scheme for the state government employees. Implementation of the old pension scheme, in place of the new contributory pension scheme, for the employees appointed on and after November 01, 2004, was being demanded for a long time.

According to the guidelines issued by the Finance Department regarding the old pension scheme, 12 percent of the basic salary will be deducted and deposited in the provident fund from April 1, 2022. Similarly, 10 percent monthly deduction for the new contributory pension scheme from the salary of state government employees appointed in the year 2004 and after has been discontinued from April 1, 2022. It has also been mentioned in the issued instructions that the details of deduction of General Provident Fund will be kept separately at the Directorate, Treasury Account and Pension level and this amount will be shown in the new General Provident Fund account number allotted to the concerned employees.
