Over 1800 cases of child labour registered from 2019-21

New Delhi, (thestates.news):A total of 1861 cases of child labour were registered in the country from 2019-21, Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Rameswar Teli informed on Monday. According to the details of the cases registered in the country against child labour from 2019-21, provided by the Minister in a written reply in Lok Sabha, out of the 1861 cases, 2019 recorded the highest at 772, followed by 613 in 2021 and 476 in 2020.

As per the data, among the states, the highest number of cases registered during this period were from Telangana. The number stood at 685. In response to a question on whether the government has any policy to stop child labour in the country, Teli said the government is pursuing multipronged strategy to eliminate child labour and has taken comprehensive measures which include legislative measures, rehabilitation strategy, providing right of free education and general socio-economic development so as to eliminate the incidence of the child labour.
