PM Modi discusses tech advancements with NEC chief in Tokyo

Tokyo/New Delhi,(thestates.news): Prime Minister Narendra Modi met NEC Corporation Chairman Nobuhiro Ando in Tokyo on Monday and appreciated the role of NEC in India’s telecom sector. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi tweeted that the two leaders also discussed the opportunities of new and emerging technologies in India. Ando talked about opportunities in India in areas such as smart cities, emerging technologies and an innovative effort to encourage Japanese learning in India.According to the Ministry of External Affairs, the Prime Minister appreciated the role of NEC in India’s telecom sector, especially in the Chennai-Andaman and Nicobar Islands (CANI) and Kochi-Lakshadweep Islands (KLI) OFC projects. He also highlighted the investment opportunities under the Production Linked Incentive Scheme. They discussed various reforms being undertaken to make it easier to do business in India, including industrial development, taxation and labour. They also discussed the opportunities in India in new and emerging technologies.(HS)
