Raipur (thestates.news) | On the occasion of his birthday, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi transferred Rs 2044 crore as the first installment under PM Awas Yojana directly into the bank accounts of over 5.11 lakh homeless families in Chhattisgarh for the construction of their permanent homes.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, several cabinet ministers and other dignitaries marked their esteemed present at the ‘Mor Awas – Mor Adhikar’ (My House – My Right) program organized at the Indoor Stadium of Raipur today. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi participated virtually in the event. While transferring the first installment under PM Awas Yojana, Shri Modi congratulated and extended best wishes to the beneficiaries.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi affirmed that his government has always aimed at bringing happiness and ease into the lives of the poor and the weaker sections of society. Over the past ten years, significant success has been achieved in fulfilling this objective. During the event, keys to the newly-built homes, along with certificates of completion, decorative door adornments, and religious materials, were handed over to over 23,000 urban families.
Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai extended heartfelt greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti and to Prime Minister Modi on his birthday. He stated that today brings double joy to the people of Chhattisgarh – the Prime Minister’s birthday and the realization of the housing dreams of lakhs of families in the state. He expressed deep gratitude to the Prime Minister and mentioned that beneficiaries were welcomed with the traditional washing of their feet.
Chief Minister Shri Sai emphasized that food, clothing, and housing are the most basic needs of an person, but even decades after independence, a large number of citizens across the country do not own a home. Through the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), the dream of providing homes to homeless families is being realized.
He further mentioned that out of the 32 lakh approved houses across the country, nearly 30% have been allocated to Chhattisgarh – a significant achievement for the state. After assuming office, his government prioritized the approval of 18 lakh PMAY homes. Today, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has transferred the first installment to the accounts of 5.11 lakh beneficiaries in Chhattisgarh.
