Chandigarh,(thestates.news) : A day after the Punjab Government reduced the security cover, famous Punjabi folk singer Sidhu Moosewala was shot dead on Sunday evening in Mansa, Punjab. Along with Sidhu, two of his associates were also injured in the attack. The number of attackers was more than one and the attackers were waiting for the singer to arrive at the spot and opened fire on Musewala and his associates. The Punjab government had reduced the security of Sidhu Musewala on Friday night itself.
According to the information, on Sunday, Punjabi folk singer Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu alias Sidhu Moosewala was in the house of his native village Musa. At around 4.30 pm, Sidhu Musewala left for Mansa in his SUV. He was driving the car himself. One of his friends was in the front seat of the car and the other in the back seat. As soon as Sidhu Moosewala came out of his village and moved towards Mansa and reached near Jawahar village, the attackers started firing from the front. Six rounds were fired one after the other at Sidhu Musewala’s vehicle. The attackers also opened fire on their friends from side windows. The attackers fired 15-20 rounds. The attackers fled after firing. The villagers who reached the spot took all the injured to the hospital, where the doctors declared Sidhu Musewala dead.
Mann government had cut security
Bhagwant Mann’s government has reduced the police security of 424 important people of the state including Moosewala a day earlier. This move of the government was already getting a lot of criticism. After the killing of Musewala, fresh questions are being raised about the security cuts.
Contested election on Congress ticket
Moosewal was a popular Punjabi singer as well as a Congress leader who contested as a Congress candidate from Mansa Assembly seat during the recent Punjab Assembly elections. However, Aam Aadmi Party candidate Vijay Singla defeated him by a huge margin.
Mann government’s responsibility: Congress leader
Congress leader Dr Rajkumar Verka blamed Bhagwant Mann and the Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) for this murder and said that the government is withdrawing the security of the people in enmity. He said that the law and order situation in Punjab has worsened in the state.(HS)
