New Delhi(thestates.news)| Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday vacated his official bungalow located at 12 Tughlak Lane in which he was staying since last 19 years. Last month, the former Congress president was asked to vacate the bungalow days after he was disqualified from Lok Sabha as a member after a court in Gujarat’s Surat convicted him for his “all thieves have Modi surname” remarks at a rally in Karnataka’s Kolar in 2019. He was sentenced two years in the defamation case.
“I have paid the price for speaking the truth. I will continue to pay the price whatsoever it is,” Rahul, flanked by party leaders -Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and KC Venugopal, told reporters after vacating the bungalow in a veiled attack on Narendra Modi-led government at the centre. He also expressed his gratitude to the people and said, “This was given to me by the people of India. I thank them.” “Now, I will stay in 10 Janpath ,” Rahul said. 10 Janpath is the official residence of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi . In response to a question on unemployment and inflation, he said he would continue to raise these issues.
Earlier, the Congress said it will continue to avail all the options available under the law in connection with the defamation case of his former party chief after the Surat court dismissed his plea seeking stay on his conviction. (UNI)
