New Delhi (thestates.news)| Renowned Bharatanatyam dancer Yamini Krishnamurthy died at the Apollo Hospital here on Saturday. Padma Vibhushan awardee Krishnamurthy was suffering from age-related diseases for a long time. She was 84 years old. She breathed her last in a hospital here, official sources said. Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed grief over Yamini Krishnamurthy’s death and offered his condolence to her family during this difficult time.
He has paid tribute to the departed personality. The Sangeet Natak Academy also paid tribute to her on her demise and said in a condolence message, “The Sangeet Natak Academy and its associate organizations express deep condolences on the demise of Bharatanatyam’s leading artist, Fellow of the Sangeet Natak Academy, and Padma Vibhushan awardee Yamini Krishnamurthy. Heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and fans, and prayers to God to give them strength to bear this irreparable loss.”
Krishnamurti’s remains will be taken to Yamini School of Dance at Hauz Khas on Sunday, but details of her final rites are yet to be finalized. (UNI)
