New Delhi(thestates.news)|External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, who is on a visit to Uganda, met members of the Indian Business Community in Kampala and appreciated their contribution to the bilateral relationship.In tweets, EAM also encouraged them to continue building the bridge of business ties. He said that India’s progress and prosperity creates new opportunities that can benefit Uganda.

Encouraged them to continue building the bridge of our business ties that capture the growth and development in the two countries.“India’s progress and prosperity creates new opportunities that can benefit Uganda. Just as India’s experiences can help Uganda’s development journey.” On Tuesday, EAM had held bilateral talks with his Ugandan counterpart General Odongo Jeje Abubakhar. During the talks the two sides explored the possibilities in bilateral trade and investments, energy, defence and air connectivity. EAM Jaishankar later also participated in a virtual ground-breaking ceremony of solar-powered piped drinking water supply systems funded by the Exim Bank in Uganda.
On Monday, EAM Jaishankar had called on Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni and conveyed the personal greetings of PM Narendra Modi. They also discussed cooperation in trade and investment, infrastructure and energy among other subjects. He also participated in the launch of the Tulsi Ghat Restoration Project in Varanasi and appreciated the BJP party’s Ugandan wing to contribute to further beautifying the ancient Indian city.He is on an official visit to Uganda, a landlocked country in East Africa, from April 10-12,EAM will inaugurate the transit campus of the National Forensic Science University (NFSU) in Jinja. A bilateral MoU between the Government of India and Government of Uganda, on setting up of the first ever campus of NFSU outside India, is likely to be signed during the visit.
There are around 30,000 Indians in a country of nearly 50 million, accounting for less than one percent of the population, yet they contribute to 65 percent of the government revenues in the form of taxes. After Uganda, he will proceed on an official visit to Mozambique, on the southeast coast of Africa, from April 13-15. This will be the first-ever visit by an External Affairs Minister of India to the Republic of Mozambique.(UNI)
